We all see the same moon with the same phase. The moon was observed Friday morning before sun rise. The view of the moon was like a big hilal. It is certainly the first crescent well developed with the horns on the waning phase. This indicates that next Friday will be the first of Safar. We know it seven days in advance by mere observation and this was possible in those days also.
The moon was about 70 degrees away from the sun at the time of sun rise. Saturday morning it will be 59 degrees, Sunday 48 degrees, Monday 37 degrees, Tuesday 26 degrees, Wednesday 15 degrees and Thursday 4 degrees which indicates that the sun and moon will be in the same Manaazil on Thursday. We cannot see the crescent on Thursday morning. Friday must be the first of Safar in the calendar of nature hung in the sky for the people to look at for their dates.
Those who conduct observations may please comment.
The Solar eclipse on the 30th of Muharram, Thursday informs us that Friday is the first of Safar without any doubt.
I have seen your Hijra Calendar. It seems to have a fundamental problem. You are taking Midnight UTC as the cut-off time. That is, if the New Moon happens at 23:59 UTC on Monday, you are starting the Islamic Month on Tuesday. What it means is that, people close to IDL and even beyond would be starting their Months (including Sahar) - well before the conjunction happens (up to 12 hours sometimes!).
This problem is there for 6 months in your 1429 Calendar:
1) Rabiul Awwal starts about 3 hours and 15 mts before conjunction 2) Jumadul Awwal starts about 19 mts before conjunction 3) Jumadhul Akhir starts about 7 hours and 22 mts before conjunction 4) Ramadhan starts about 7 hours and 58 mts before conjunction 5) Dul Qaida starts about 11 hours and 13 mts before conjunction 6) Dul Haj starts about 4 hours and 54 mts before conjunction
Whether one needs to SEE the Crescent to start the month is a different issue, but how can one begin fasting / start the month when even the Conjunction itself is yet to take place?
